I prefer science fiction, fantasy, and horror without the spaceships, dragons, and zombies.

Prince of Thorns (The Broken Empire, #1)

Prince of Thorns - Mark Lawrence Highly entertaining. It would have gotten 4 stars, but there were some elements that strained credulity and others that the author whipped up just to get himself out of a tight spot (or so it seemed). Also, to those who may be thinking about reading this book, keep in mind that it's told from a villain's perspective throughout, in first person, with dark, dark humor. I just hope he remains a villain in the books to follow. This character, post-redemption, would be far less interesting.
