I prefer science fiction, fantasy, and horror without the spaceships, dragons, and zombies.

Dark Force Rising (Star Wars: The Thrawn Trilogy, Book 2)

Dark Force Rising - Timothy Zahn The first half of this book was a bit of a slog, but it got much better (action-wise) near the end. There are far too many references to the original Star Wars trilogy planted throughout to remind the reader again and again that he/she is reading a Star Wars book. Famous lines from the movies are used repeatedly, as if the characters are talking toys with pull-strings. This is really a 2.5 star book. I'll read the final book in the series to how it all wraps up, but am in no hurry to do so.
